Albeit this is a difficult sophomore slump for Hosmer, it was sort of expected. But Gordon's struggles might be more frustrating to watch as he seems to have regressed back to underachieving Alex and trying to pull balls a foot outside.

Jim,

No doubt I was wrong about Paulino. Just as you said, my concern from last season was his high pitch count. If he can stay healthy, he really appears to have a chance to being THE GUY for this year's staff. Bruce Chen is nice, but he has to work a lot harder for his good performances than Paulino. Regardless, with those two clicking, I'm hoping that will negate another extended losing streak.

With regards to Dyson, I am absolutely loving what he's doing as a leadoff man. A breath of fresh air for sure. 100% agree w/ you about his hitting approach as well. He pretty much needs to be swining like he's locked in a phone booth--very short, compact.

I'm going to disagree on the Lorenzo Cain front. With Frenchy swinging a pretty awful bat, and Gordon doing the same, there SHOULD be plenty of AB's for Cain. Ok, so I guess I agree that his starting role may be hard to get back, but finding Cain semi-regular AB's shouldn't be difficult. A flat out platoon with Frenchy should probably be in order, but I highly doubt the Royals go that route.

Thanks for reading, and leaving a comment. Love the banter.

Paulino was missed by a lot of stat oriented folks, but was a legit #2 last year in 2/3rds of a season and I had him as a #2-#1 this year if healthy, which turned out to cost him the first month. His main problem is pitch count.

Dyson is a surprise. Rap on him is that he tries to pull the ball in the air, but if he scrunches into a smaller strike zone and hits like Getz last year, slap the ball to the left and run like hell, he will be productive. 'Zo Cain may have a hard time getting his job back, as Jarrod is, so far, the perfect leadoff man.

Okay, Clint, got it figured out, had to disable ad block on mozilla. Placed an order for some books. Still thinking a t-shirt would be cool.

Everybody is tradeable, so the question becomes, what do you get back from unloading productive veterans and high-ceiling prospects? Josh Beckett? Jair? Wandy?

As for Billy specifically, he is tracking this year for around 30 homers and 120 RBIs, a continuation of his power burst from last season after he adjusted his swing and approach. Add to that that his defense would play well enough in the NL and a lot of doubles would turn into homers in a bandbox, so there is some serious value there.

For our readers, both JaKKKKe and Wil were promoted to AAA today.

Well yeah, there's the issue of after the trade with Escobar, but this is purely about the value of the player without thinking about the aftermath.
