Series Tied 1-1

Things got off to a good start for the Chasers but they couldn’t sustain the early success falling into a 1-1 series tie.  That early success came via Ryan Verdugo’s five shutout innings and a Max Ramirez two run home run in the 2nd that was part of the 3-0 lead the team had built.  At 3-0 Omaha could not expand on their lead and it took just two innings for Albuquerque to jump ahead.  The first two runs came in the 6th via a two out Trent Oeltjen RBI triple which cut the lead to 3-2.  Verdugo would run into trouble again in the 7th giving up a single and a walk before giving way to Juan Gutierrez who quickly gave up the lead on back to back singles by Dee Gordon and Josh Fields before wiggling out of the jam.  The Isotopes would tack on another in the 8th while the Chasers couldn’t get anything moving.

Series Tied 1-1
Wilmington Blue Rocks 12 Lynchburg Hillcats 3

The Blue Rocks offense exploded to even up their divisional series with Lynchburg.  Nine of the eleven hitters that came to the plate collected at least one hit to combine for eighteen hits and twelve runs.  The middle of the order did much of the damage as Lane Adams, Matt Fields and Cheslor Cuthbert combined for seven hits, reached base nine times and scored seven of the teams runs.  Starter Jason Adam made it a one sided affair with seven innings of two run ball while working around five hits and three walks, allowing just a pair of runs to take the win.

Orem Owlz 15 Idaho Falls Chukars 3

The Chukars lost a lopsided season finale to end their season.  Starter John Lamb’s final game didn’t end with much success as the lefty gave up six runs on seven hits, two of which left the yard to take the loss.  Things didn’t go much better for the relief crew as three of the final four pitchers gave up runs including four off Ali Williams and four more (1 ER) from David Middendorf.

About The Author

I grew up on the mean gravel roads of Iowa where I started my love for baseball from the age of 2. George Brett and the voice of Denny Matthews deepened my love even more for the Royals as my father and I spent summers listening to the team on our deck or in the car on our way to or from my little league and high school games. Sports was always the common bond that my father and I enjoyed and the Royals were in the center of that.I currently live in La Vista with my wife, two sons, two dogs and a pair of gross cats where we are grinding through until we can move somewhere warm when we retire. I own Casino Cab Company and Bluffs Affordable Auto Repair in Council Bluffs trying to build my 1% empire. If you are in the area you can find me at Omaha Storm Chasers games on most nights or just follow me on twitter @ClintScoles.

I would never wish it upon someone to finish the year on a sour note, but in John Lambs case it just might be what the doctor ordered. If he would have smoked through the lower level he might not have worked as hard this offseason, I dont know the guy, its just a broad stroke about people in general. Here’s hoping that he comes back stronger and faster from the nasty ol TJ. I think this guy is going to be good and will give royals fans something to wish for next year.
