OF

Brett Eibner #11 prospect

I loved this kids arm at Arkansas. A RH power arm that easily threw in the mid 9′s…as a hitter he was struggling as a sophomore when I saw him for the first time. But,  I guarantee any reliable Razorback fan will tell you that they knew he could hit a bomb at any moment. Often, he did it in a big situation including a dramatic HR in the college world series. He has always wanted to be a hitter and this lead to him going to Fayetteville instead of the Houston Astros organization because they would not let him continue hitting. I like Eibner in CF and his arm is a plus arm that plays well in RF, as well. Any scout will tell you that finding a RH power bat, a fine SS, a solid C, and a reliable CF is not easy. The Royals have the RH power bat in Eibner and if he stays in CF they have killed 2 birds with one stone. He will strike out a lot as most aggressive swingers will but I don’t think he will be allergic to the walk either. I am predicting a Gorman Thomas type peak career for him (with a better .AVG because times are different)

Eibner 9 innings interview

Brian Fletcher The son of former big league infielder Scott Fletcher. He has a lot of power hitting 22 jacks in his last season at Auburn before the Royals took him in the 18th round. He got just 16 at bats after signing but hit 2 home runs.

Geulin Beltre The 20 year old Dominican was the talk of the AZ league when I was media at the end of the 2008 season. He has struggled since that time and carries a .221 .avg with a .279 obp while hitting just 11 HR in 553 at bats in his pro career. He has also struck out 151 times.

Alex Llanos The Royals 6th round pick in 2008 from Puerto Rico is just 20 years old. He hit .259 with a .308 obp for the Burlington Royals last summer in 232 at bats. He stole 17 bases in 25 attempts

P:

Keaton Hayenga Keaton looks to return to the mound this year and improve on a forgettable 2010. I think he can do it…one of my favorite guys in the system and a kid that is blessed with a great family…Keaton should fit into the middle of the Kougar rotation.

Crawford Simmons #33 prospect-This will be  a big year for the LHP from Georgia. His velocity went down a bit last season but I have been told he put in some serious time in the off season and should be closer to 90 this season. he knows how to pitch and could re-emerge as a top prospect throughout the summer.

9 innings

Chas Byrne The Royals 16th round pick in 2010 had a fine 1st summer with the Royals as he was 1-1 with a 1.99 e.r.a in 41 IP all out of the bullpen. He struck out 48 and walked just 10 batters.

Matt Mitchell The 14th round pick in 2097 is 2 years removed from TJ surgery. He was 1-9 with a 5.60 e.r.a for the Bees last season

Leonel Santiago The 21 year old Dominican has been in the organization since he was 17. He has a career mark of 12-9 with a 3.49 e.r.a in 232 innings with 199 k’s and just 66 walks. He has a chance to be the ace of this staff

Sugar Ray Marimon The very lean RHP from Cartegena, Columbia was 2-6 with a 5.91 e.r.a in 14 gs for the Bees last season

Leondy Perez The Dominican RHP has been in the organization for 3 seasons and has a career mark of 6-13 with a 4.23 e.r.a and 183 strike outs in 172 innings. He performed for the Chukars last summer.

Nick Wooley The former William Woods University (outside St.Louis) pitcher is 5-8 with a 5.69 e.r.a in parts of 2 seasons with the organization. He was the clubs 12th round pick in 2009.

Jonathon Keck The Left hander Royals 42nd round pick out of Bethel college in 2009 stands 6’6 pitcher was 3-3 with a 4.68 e.r.a for the Burlington Royals last summer

Mitch Hodge The Royals 4th round pick in 2007 out of Prince of Wales in Vancouver, BV has been used as a RP since he was drafted. He was 0-2 with a 6.34 e.r.a last season for the Burlington Bees

Greg Billo A very smart pitcher that won’t blow anyone away with velocity but he continuously gets guys out because he knows how to pitch. The son of a HS pitching coach makes his full season debut after pithing for the Idaho Falls Chukars last season where he was 4-8 with a 5.17 e.r.a but 79 K in 78 IP.

9 innings with Billo

Chase Boruff Was signed as a NDFA last summer out of Carson-Newman college where he had started his collegiate career as a football player. The 6’2 RHP pitched in 6 games for the AZL Royals after signing
