Kane County Cougars 3 South Bend Silver Hawks 0

Starter Aaron Brooks put together his best start of the 2012 season to lead the Cougars to a win over South Bend.  The 2011 9th round pick worked 7 scoreless innings allowing just 4 singles while striking out 6 and working just two over the minimum thanks to two double play balls.  The Cougars offense wasn’t stellar collecting just 5 hits but they got the job done crossing the plate 3 times including an RBI double by Jorge Bonifacio.

Helena Brewers 8 Idaho Falls Chukars 7

A back and forth game went the way of the Brewers Wednesday night in Idaho Falls.  Helena jumped all over starter Zeb Sneed getting 3 runs in the 1st inning and a pair in the 4th off the local Idaho product ballooning his ERA to 7.98 in the process.  The Chukars offense would comeback with six runs from the 4th through the 6th to claim a 7-5 lead but were unable to hold onto that lead giving up a run in the 7th, 8th and 9th to drop the game 8-7.  Chukars shortstop Adalberto Mondesi missed another game with his pulled hamstring but his older brother did not going 2 for 3 with a pair of runs scored.

About The Author

I grew up on the mean gravel roads of Iowa where I started my love for baseball from the age of 2. George Brett and the voice of Denny Matthews deepened my love even more for the Royals as my father and I spent summers listening to the team on our deck or in the car on our way to or from my little league and high school games. Sports was always the common bond that my father and I enjoyed and the Royals were in the center of that.I currently live in La Vista with my wife, two sons, two dogs and a pair of gross cats where we are grinding through until we can move somewhere warm when we retire. I own Casino Cab Company and Bluffs Affordable Auto Repair in Council Bluffs trying to build my 1% empire. If you are in the area you can find me at Omaha Storm Chasers games on most nights or just follow me on twitter @ClintScoles.
